clare cooper
Clare has developed a unique and extended series of techniques for improvising on the harp, primarily exploring gritty, animated sound that works against the instruments typecast. The strings grunt, snort and hiss under her tiny fingers. Over the last few years she has played in Europe, Australia and New Zealand with all the major players in the emerging Australasian new impro scene. When not playing Harp she is a 3D animator and co-director of the NOW now series and festival of spontaneous music. She has never considered taking up the flute.

Catherine Pancake is a percussionist, sound artist and film-maker from Baltimore MD. Her inventive and inspired percussion style includes creative improvisation using a traditional trap set and experimentation with subtle and precise tone production using dry ice. She has also worked in collaboration with Andrew Hayleck usinghydrophones to combine water and electronics with quite original effect.

Collaborations include Le Quan Ninh, Jaap Blank, Sabir Mateen, Carolyne Kraabel, Ian Nagoski, Audrey Chen, Susan Alcorn, Andrew Hayleck, Dan Breen and Paul Neidhardt.

2003/2004/2005 venues included Knitting Factory (NYC) Taipei National School for the Arts (Taiwan) Shanghai Conservatory (Shanghai, ROC) International House (Tokyo) Soundlab (Buffalo, NY) Princeton University (Princeton, NJ) Flywheel (Easthampton, MA.) Her films have been shown across the US in venues such as Philadelphia International Film Festival, AFI Silver Theater (Silver Springs, MD), Contemporary Museum (Baltimore, MD,) and the Millenium Theater (NYC.)

Catherine also organizes two nationally recognized collectively run performance events in Baltimore: Charm City Kitty Club (queer/trans quarterly series) and Transmodern Age, a festival devoted to promoting experimental dance, performance, sound and action with a special emphasis on women, gay, and minority artists.

scott smallwood
Scott Smallwood was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up at 10,000 feet in elevation in the Colorado Rockies. Currently based in the New York area, Smallwood¹s work exists in the world of real and abstracted sound textures based on field recordings. His improvisations, whether laptop soundscape performances or concert music with acoustic instruments, attempt to be always mindful of space and sound. He has released recordings on the Deep Listening and Televaw Records imprints, and his work has been presented nationally and internationally in festivals, conferences, galleries, clubs, coffee shops, swimming pools, rooftops, and dive bars.
