Electronic sound artists 2673 and Michael Haleta team up in a noise duo, followed by Brooklyn-based noise band Mouthus.
2673/Michael Haleta
Kevin Winter, AKA 2673, is a New Jersey sound artist whos amassed a substantial and very impressive discography in a short amount of time -- culminating in his phenomenal recent splits with experimental music icons Kevin Drumm and Jessica Rylan. His side here is a cold, willowy stream of high-pitched speaker sizzle with ear-piercingly clear oscillator tones cutting through. The combination of icy purity and textural noise, as usual with 2673s music, is perfectly balanced. Not particularly harsh, but too stark to be calming, this track is unsettling in the best possible way. Cyber Blast Records owner Habeeb infuses his own ceremonial music with a different slant. The warm ambient drones and deep throbbing basses of his track explore the same stark Antarctic icescape as 2673, but with a much smoother, less textured sound that is more subliminal. If you listen very carefully, you can hear the monsters lurking beneath the smooth surface. Dark ambient at its minimalist best.

Michael Haleta is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Hamilton, New Jersey. Together with his wife, video artist Dawn Bendick, they make up the maximal audio/visual duo, Backbreakerneckbrace (Alienation (SU), Antiopic- Allegorical MP3 Power Series). BBNB's sound primarily deals with the reappropriation of field recordings and site specific sound happenings which ultimately become processed and reassembled into one another. To add to the confusion, in pop terms, some people have called it "collage noise" and "nuetronic noise". Backbreakerneckbrace has performed internationally in galleries, rock clubs, institutes, festivals and museums.

Michael and Dawn also run the small edition label/shop entitled, Raw Special Effects (RSE) which is scheduled to release material by EVOL, Zbigniew Karkowski and Peter Rehberg to name a few. Past projects include: New No York (newnoyork.org) and New No York Soundsystem. In early July, Backbreakerneckbrace will be releasing their first full length DVD on the experimental, New York-based DVD label, Rebuild All Your Ruins. Michael Haleta also plays in the Baltimore band- WZT Hearts.

Mouthus
New York based Mouthus specialize in creating densely textured guitar/ keyboard/ percussion workouts which straddle the divide between tortured electronic noise and ecstatic psychedelia. Future members Brian Sullivan and Nate Nelson met in summer 2002 at an impromptu living room jam arranged by Nate's roomate Richard, Bassist of Load records/psych-o-path band Sightings, with whom Brian had formed Providence, RI group Chawmank in the mid nineties. After this meeting, the pair began playing and recording together on a regular basis, finding common inspiration in psych-noise brain-gougers like Jandek and Fushitsusha.

Mouthus transport the listner to a place which seems to explode with architectural clarity only to fall into muddy dissolution seconds later. In their music, flights above the clouds and crawls on the belly are coextensive and equally enthralling.
