seth nehil
Seth Nehil (*1973) is a composer and visual artist living in Brooklyn, NY and completing an MFA in music/sound at Bard College. He currently co-edits and designs FO A RM, an interdisciplinary magazine of arts and research. The author of many solo recordings, including Tracing the Skins of Clouds, Uva, and Umbra as well as collaborations with John Grzinich and Olivia Block. Reviews have described his compositions as "active sound fields (of) resonant tonalities... incredibly strong work" (Jim Haynes, The Wire) and "boundless imaginary landscapes (Chris Rice, Halana). Works in progress include multi-speaker installation, concert pieces for multiple performers, collaborations with composers Matthew Marble and Brendan Murray and multimedia performances with poet/performer Bethany Wright.

Scott Smallwood was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up at 10,000 feet in elevation in the Colorado Rockies. Currently based in the New York area, Smallwood¹s work exists in the world of real and abstracted sound textures based on field recordings. His improvisations, whether laptop soundscape performances or concert music with acoustic instruments, attempt to be always mindful of space and sound. He has released recordings on the Deep Listening and Televaw Records imprints, and his work has been presented nationally and internationally in festivals, conferences, galleries, clubs, coffee shops, swimming pools, rooftops, and dive bars.

Born in Cambridge in 2002, ONDA combines voice, violin, and percussion with laptops and live signal processing to explore the infinite possibilities of timbre, from white noise to amplified rocks to overtone singing. ONDA extends the language of Boston's "lower-case" improvisers to the limit of intensity, from explosive violence to frozen silences.

ONDA has performed at avant-garde venues The Red Room in Baltimore, Boston's Artists-at-Large, Qingping Tea House, and Zeitgeist Gallery, the Knitting Factory New York, ArtSpace New Haven, and Portland's Strange Maine. The group inaugurated the electronic music series elastro, hosted by the experimental performance space 3030 in Chicago.
